“Discover Iceland” is a family-run tour operator specializing in high-end travel in Iceland. We take pride in providing quality service for the more demanding traveler. Our exclusive tours are operated by 4×4 trucks.
The company was founded in 2010 by the couple Georg & Karen. The volcanic eruption at Fimmvörðuháls and Eyjafjallajökull that year created a need for specialized vehicles and capable drivers that would be able to reach the eruption site. There was great demand for such adventure trips. As a consequence, Georg & Karen established a tour company that continues till this day.
We take travelers to unconventional sites in amazing modified trucks with very large tires. One can say we do the impassable.
Georg’s previous experience was freelance work as a tour guide, along with his main job as IT Consultant and Marketing. Karen was working as a bookkeeper in the retail business. Their skills are put to use for their own cozy company now.
THE TEAM – First we have our charismatic guides! These are highly enthusiastic local guides who thoroughly enjoy their jobs, and also share their expertise with the office personnel and the garage staff, consolidating the Discover team to one unit of just good buddies.
THE FLEET – Discover’s 4×4 fleet is made up of 10 super jeeps, with tires from 38’’ to 46’’. They can take a maximum of 6-9 passengers, though most often we travel with 4-5 customers. Asides from the off-roading, one of the benefits of these vehicles is the extra comfort they provide, with more leg space and nice seats.
THE LODGE – The company owns 2 magnificent large wooden cottages in the area of the Golden Circle, and near Borgarfjörður. One has a Jacuzzi outside, sauna, fireplace, two bathrooms and the all-essential internet. We use them during our multi-day tours.
Discover Ltd is a registered tour operator by the Icelandic Tourist Board. We answer emails promptly day and night, but take phone calls only during local business hours.
